Goal 1: End poverty in all its forms everywhere
In recent decades, enormous strides have been made in the fight against global poverty, yet around 836 million people around the world still live in extreme poverty. In developing countries, one in five people live on less than $ 1.25 a day and the majority of these are concentrated in two regions: South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. The spread of local and regional conflicts significantly affects the creation of new forms of poverty and fragility. The concept of poverty, in fact, goes beyond the lack of economic resources for sustenance and manifests itself in social and political exclusion, in the lack of access to education, in discrimination.
Goals:
One of the goals identified to achieve this multi-dimensional goal is reduce at least by half the proportion of men, women and children of all ages living in poverty in all its dimensions according to national definitions, by 2030 (Target 1.2).
