Goal 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, long-lasting and sustainable
We are witnessing the development of an increasingly urbanized world. If on the one hand cities are fundamental centers for the economy, culture, science and society, on the other there are challenges that must necessarily be faced: the pollution produced, the growing consumption of energy and resources, soil consumption, lack of housing, severe pressure on basic services.
The numbers speak of a constant growth of urban agglomerations, given that since 2007 more than half of the world population is concentrated in cities, and by 2030 it is estimated that the percentage will rise to 60%. It is therefore necessary to make cities inclusive, safe and sustainable.
Goals:
One of the milestones identified to achieve this goal is to significantly reduce the number of deaths and the number of people affected by disasters, including those related to water, with particular regard to the protection of the poor and the most vulnerable, by 2030.
