Goal SDG 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
Sustainable Development finds an important ally in societies in which institutions represent a real barrier to injustice. Inclusive, transparent and peaceful societies are the right instruments to stop conflicts and violations of human dignity.
The number of people fleeing war, persecution and conflict exceeded 70 million in 2018, and was the highest in the last 70 years (source UN).
Targets:
The 2030 Agenda sets goals to promote the building and strengthening of peaceful and inclusive societies. One of the targets identified to achieve this multi-dimensional goal is, by 2030, to ensure legal identity and birth registration for all (Target 16.9).
